Review Summary: The M402 is a very popular model of electronic cigarette, especially among those who have some experience with electronic cigarettes, and LiteCig supplies the product at the best price we’ve found and they have incredible service. In fact, Shawn, the owner, responded to all our emails personally. That said, the M402 isn’t designed for anyone looking to smoke an electronic cigarette that looks like the traditional type; its black color and gold accents make it stand out like a sore thumb (they also offer a stainless steel version). If you don’t mind how it looks, this is a great model from a highly recommended company.
Pros: Price, throat hit, customer service
Cons: Appearance, no carrying case
LiteCig offer 4 different starter kits for the M402, ranging in price from $36.95 for the single atomizer kit to $42.95 for the dual atomizer kit. If you’re not sure which one to go with, we’d recommend the single atomizer kit, you can always buy more later if you decide you like electronic cigarettes.
The biggest problem we have with the M402 is the design. It’s only available in black with gold accents and stainless steel; the former is, quite honestly, something I wouldn’t be caught outside of the house with. The stainless steel version is a bit better, but it still stands out, so if you’re looking for something that won’t draw attention, you may want to try BluCigs. On the other hand, if you plan to smoke in places covered by smoking bans, like bars or restaurants, it may be easier to explain the fact that it’s not a real cigarette to anyone who confronts you if its obviously not a traditional cigarette.
Electronic cigarettes are trending more and more toward the size of real cigarettes these days and the M402 fits that trend perfectly. It’s just a bit larger than a traditional smoke, about the size of a Camel Wide 100.
The LiteCig M402 comes with automatic batteries, which means it works just like a traditional smoke, activating the atomizer and vaporizing the tobacco liquid when you inhale. This allows you to smoke hands-free as opposed to having to press a button on the battery to activate the atomizer.
Battery life is about average, and obviously depends on how much you smoke. For light smokers, the battery should last about 6-8 hours and approaches 5 hours with heavy smoking. We found that to be pretty average among the models we reviewed.
The cartridges for the M402 tasted great. One of the things we like about the M402 cartridges is you can easily refill them with liquid you purchase elsewhere. That could be a good or bad thing depending on your preference. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty and manually refilling cartridges, the M402 is perfect in that respect. On the other hand, if you prefer a more “plug and play” solution, BluCigs might be a better option for you. Cartridge life was about average among the models we tested.
The draw on the M402 was pretty light. By that we mean it felt like sucking air through a straw. We actually didn’t mind it at all, but if you’re looking for a harder draw, you may want to try something else.
Throat hit was harsher and more cigarette-like on the M402 than other models we’ve tested. Vapor production was about average.
Delivery was fast and took less than 2 days to receive our M402 from LiteCig. The owner’s name is Shawn and he responded personally to all of our emails within 2 hours so we were pretty impressed with the service.
Overall, we were very pleased with the LiteCig M402. LiteCig’s customer service is exceptional and the price is the lowest we found amongst reputable sellers. It’s a great starter kit if you don’t mind the color combinations and you want a solid smoking experience. However, if you’re looking for something that looks more like a traditional cigarette and you’d rather buy your cartridges prefilled, you should check out our review of the Blu, as that may be more up your alley.
