A relative newcomer to the electronic cigarette scene, Blu Cigs were unavailable for 2 months due to overwhelming demand…now they’re back. A unique carrying case that also functions as an on-the-go battery charger with enough juice to charge 6 full batteries sets this brand apart. Barely larger than a traditional cigarette, it’s also the smallest cigarette available to date.

I bought it because of the pack…no other company offers this (not that I know of at least). I’ve been able to get about 4-5 full charges out of the pack before it needs to be recharged itself. The USB charger is a lifesaver when I’m on business trips…I can just plug the thing into my laptop.
So far I’ve got 3 of my coworkers using these things after trying mine. The only complaint I have is the cartridges seem to run out a bit soon. Not the liquid itself, but the atomizer doesn’t seem to pull the liquid after a certain point, so you end up throwing away cartridges that still have some liquid left. Its still cheaper than real cigs so I’m happy. Do yourself a favor and buy these.
I bought Blucigs because I really wanted the charging pack to carry around. I’ve tried other ecigs, but without the pack, you sometimes get stranded with a dead battery and then the only option is to smoke for real. I’ve yet to get stranded with dead batteries with blu so it’s totally worth it. Plus its a bit cheaper than some of the other brands I’ve tried.
cartomizers rule, i’ve switched to them exclusively. they’re just so much more satisfying than cartridges, no more juice in the mouth and whatnot either. Highly recommend Java Jolt.
edit: I got an email from Blu about the cartos because I am a customer. They definitely have top-notch customer service.
Got my cartomizers today. That was, by far, the fastest Blu shipping I’ve ever experienced. They’re really cleaning up their process.
So the cartomizers – yes they are like tiny KR808s for those who know what those are – they have an end cap that can be pried off to refill the liquid if you’re into that. It appears they have the standard guts. There is wicking medium like in other carts, with a center tube. The hole you suck through is a little bigger than on the old carts. The draw is much better.
As I said, the end cap does come off, but not with a paper clip like on a KR808. It isn’t a ‘soft cap’, but rather hard plastic. I used one of those thin, inch long nails to get it off. It popped back on with no problem, the plastic held up well to prying. I can see this is going to be easily refillable.
I have only tried Classic Tobacco so far and it tastes okay. I can’t tell if it’s “old”, “new”, Johnson Creek, or what… but the Full Flavor is good and there’s nice little throat hit.
I think I’m really going to like this change.
I finally purchased blu cigs in time for Christmas. It’s been about a month now and my husband loves it. He’s totally quit smoking regular cigarettes which is fantastic for me because those things stink!
I read somewhere that blucigs have new cartridges that are better than the previous cartridges, which is part of the reason I went with them. My husband says he smokes 2 cartridges a day. He used to be a pack a day smoker which was costing us $6 a day. The blu cigs cartridges are about $1 each so now we’re spending $2 a day on smoking and Mike smells soooo much better!
The first blucigs were okay, but the battery life kind of sucked and the cartridges didn’t last near as long as they said they would.
They must have done something without telling anyone because the second set I bought was much, much better. The taste was better and they lasted much longer. I read the reviews on this site and the second release of blucigs corresponds pretty accurately with that review so I assume that’s the version the editors here had when they wrote it.
Blucigs just recently changed their cartridges again and I have to say, I’m absolutely blown away by the quality. The new release takes them from being an average e-cig with a great price, to an outstanding e-cig still with a great price.
The new cartridges have 2 changes that make them different. First, the atomizer is no longer a separate device. It’s now part of the cartridge. The result is that the cartridges are slightly more expensive than they used to be because you’re now buying an atomizer AND cartridge in one throw. At first I thought this was a bad thing because I didn’t want to pay more, but I have yet to find an e-cig manufacturer with reliable atomizers. They always just break down after a few months. I don’t know why nobody can seem to get this right, but every e-cig I’ve ever owned has atomizer life issues. Maybe it’s just the nature of the devices that they end up breaking down after a while I don’t know.
Anyway, the point is, with the atomizers now being a part of the cartridge, you get a new atomizer everytime to switch to a new cartridge, so no more worrying about your atomizers failing and not having any extras on hand. I can’t tell you how many times I switched back to regular smokes just because my atomizer died and I didn’t have a spare.
The new cartridges are also manufactured by Johnson Creek, which is a VERY high quality cartridge maker…I’ve been buying cartridges from them for other e-cigs for years and they are among the very best. Which brings me to the second reason I’m loving these new Blucigs cartridges…
The quality and taste is a thousand times better than it was before. Blu was always known for pretty good taste compared to the rest, but all the flavors are even better now. They also last quite a bit longer than the old blu cartridges. I was only getting maybe 2-3 cigarettes-worth out of the old blu cartridges, which was quite a bit lower than they advertised. Now they last quite a bit longer…my last cartridge for instance lasted about a day, which for me, was the equivalent of a half a pack of cigarettes. Still less than they advertise, but significantly better than before and better than most other brands I’ve used.
Finally, and this is only really important to me, you may not care about this at all. The cartridges are made in the US, which means they are subject to significantly higher safety standards than those cheap Chinese knockoff cartridges that everybody’s selling. The Johnson Creek facility is registered with the FDA and when it comes to safety, I’d prefer to buy my cartridges from a US company, knowing they are going to be much more careful with their production process and more concerned about safety than a Chinese company ever will.
A good friend of mine bought blu a while back and discovered the cartridges are actually very easy to refill with whatever juice you prefer — so if you already have a fav liquid, this is perfect. On his advice, I went ahead and bought a blucigs starter kit.
I’ve very happy with the quality. I’m pretty picky about my juice, so i’m not a huge fan of pretty much anything other than what I buy. That said, blu’s juice is actually pretty good compared with most of the starter kits I’ve purchased. The atomizer quality is second to none and the stick is one of the smallest I’ve ever had. Blucigs is definitely my new “regular” in the rotation now. Very happy with the purchase.
I plan on contacting them on monday and getting a couple answers possibly changing flavors. The e cig luci had the best menthol taste so far {tried 3} but its not made here in the us and the atomizer is seperate. to early to rate battery life or cart life or accessories. yes i have stopped smoking since i started any of the ecig products. was a half pack a day smoker. Hopefully i can find a better flavor or i just have a bad menthol set who knows…. happy hunting remember anythings better than real smokes!!
I ordered 3 packs of every flavor of cartomizer blu offers so that I don’t run out for a while and I’ll be able to try all the different flavors. I’m really happy with Blucigs product and their customer service has been great to me, although I’ve heard a few complaints from other people out there…not sure if they’re legit complaints or competitors or what.
I did pick up some non-nicotine cartridges also so I can just vape all day (because I love the taste) and not get any more addicted to nicotine than I am already
Anyways, once I received my pack, after much research, I was hooked. I got the cherry, coffee, vanilla, and regular. The vanilla is strong/sweet, which is okay if your in the mood for a hooka. Cherry is not as potent, and in my opinion, the best flavor you have. Coffee didn’t hit well nor did it seem to last long. I don’t like menthol, and I didn’t really mind the tobacco flavor either way.
I did have issues with the batteries. One was constantly hitting on the cartrige (which ticked me off b/c it ruined a whole one), another battery just didn’t work after one charge. One was replaced with no issues, and am waiting for my other battery to be replaced. I wish the charge would last a bit longer on the battery, and I may have to have the case replaced, as it seems to not charge all the time, at least not without ‘jiggling’ the battery a bit.
Please Blu, I have referred a couple of my friends who just received their kits, and they love it too…so stop charging so much for shipping, its not that expensive for you to ship them.
Once you’ve removed it, you can use add fluid to the cartomizer using a needle and then just push the o-ring back into place. It’s fairly simple, you just ahve to be careful not to damage the cartomizer when removing the o-ring. The quality of the atomizer in a cartomizer is a bit lower quality than a standalone cartomizer so, while they’re much cheaper, they aren’t meant to be refilled too many times.
didn’t taste like menthol at all! Called the company-service rep told us to roll the cartridges in our hands and then thump them on the table a couple of times. Really!?! How ridiculous is that? So, until we use them up, we’re stuck with a product we’re not really enjoying because they’re not returnable or exchangeable. Lesson learned. Don’t try to stock up on products from this company, because quality is a crap-shoot.
